We had settled into jail: Doctor narrates experience behind bars

The release of the “CBA 7” took seven hours, despite the court signing their release consent at 11am Wednesday.

Although the public, patients, and colleagues had waited with bated breath for their release, the seven jailed doctors’ union officials seem to have settled in their respective correctional facilities pretty well.

According to Daisy Korir, who was in the Lang’ata Women’s Prison, she had already been assigned duties to help in the facility’s dispensary and clinic as a professional doctor.

“I was assigned some duties in the dispensary to help in treating my sick inmates, I was happy to help,” she said. The 48 hours in jail, she says, was a new experience that taught her to use every opportunity she has as a free citizen to change not only her life but that of fellow Kenyans.

She also thanked the prison warders for treating her in a humane way and She extended her gratitude to Kenyans and the press for supporting the doctors’ cause.

The CBA 7 were released after all the parties involved in the case consented to have them released in a bid to continue with the negotiations.
