Hani Khalaf, 21, of no fixed address, will appear before magistrates on Saturday charged with killing Jairo Medina, 62.

A 21-year-old man has been charged with murder following the discovery of a body in London’s Hyde Park. Hani Khalaf, of no fixed address, is due to appear at Wimbledon magistrates court on Saturday accused of murdering Jairo Medina.

The 62-year-old was found injured by a member of the public at the tourist hotspot on the morning of 12 August. Khalaf was arrested and taken into custody on Thursday.

Medina, a professional carer from Chelsea, was the victim of an assault but a postmortem examination carried out last week did not discover the cause of death.

Police were called to Hyde Park at around 5.50am on 12 August after a member of the public found a man with injuries. The man was dead when officers arrived at the scene and detectives launched a murder investigation.
