Algerian authorities recover anti-aircraft systems

Algerian authorities say they have recovered six Stinger anti-aircraft systems in an operation near the frontier with Tunisia during which three extremist fighters were killed.

US stinger missiles and other seized weapons on display to the media.

Algeria's defence ministry said in a statement that "three dangerous terrorists" were killed in the town of Guemar on Thursday evening.


In addition to the anti-aircraft systems, military forces also seized a vast quantity of weapons including 20 Kalashnikov-type assault rifles, three rocket-launchers, explosive vests and ammunition.

Algeria is fighting ongoing battles with Islamic extremists while Tunisia has recently been targeted by a series of deadly attacks.
