Asylum seeker who shouted 'if Allah wills it' as he raped female German student, 25, is jailed

Man of 37 even asked the victim is she had 'enjoyed' being raped.

AN Algerian man has been jailed for violently raping a female student, 25, while shouting “if Allah wills it. The man of 37, identified only as “Rheda”, followed the student as she walked home from a nightclub at 5am in Hanover, Germany.

 He launched a brutal assault, nearly beating her to death, before raping her and then sickeningly asking if she’d “enjoyed” the experience. Rheda had consistently denied attacking the young woman, who was named only as “Lara”.

But her blood was found on his clothing and she had positively identified Rheda as being the man who attacked her. Lara told the court that Rheda banged her head on the ground repeatedly until she was almost unconscious.

She said she thought she was going to suffocate and die when he “put his hand over my mouth and closed my nose”. Lara described the attack was the worst moment of her life.


“He asked me in broken German if I had the time. Before I could reply he then grabbed me by the arm and pulled me down an alleyway,” she said.
“He told me 'I need sex’. I opened my mouth to scream but he put his hand over my mouth,” she added.
“Then he threw me onto the ground, and tried to pull off my trousers but he couldn't do it. Then he started screaming at me to get undressed,” the victim went on to say.
Throughout the attack the man was talking to himself and shouting “Inshallah” - Arabic for “if Allah wills it”
“Afterwards he asked me if it was good, and if I had enjoyed it,” she went on to say.
Passing sentence, Judge Stefan Luecke said: “The DNA evidence played a key role in this case.”
“But if that was not enough, the woman had also without any shadow of doubt clearly identified the man as being her attacker,” he added.
