investigation led two separate police branches in KwaZulu-Natal to uncover a
bloody murder, and arrest two people just hours after it was committed. Police spokesperson Major Thulani Zwane said that on Wednesday, police officers from Harburg had been on patrol when they happened upon a bakkie which they thought had been abandoned along the Tongaat main road.
They dutifully checked whether or not it had been reported stolen, which it had not. "Inside the vehicle there were some documents and stationary, and as they continued searching, a piece of paper with a telephone number was found," he said.
"When the number was phoned, it was answered by a lady who indicated that the vehicle belonged to her brother who is the teacher in Inanda," Zwane said. This led to the discovery of a school principal's body at his home.
"The vehicle was stolen during the commission of the crime. Upon further investigation, the police arrested two suspects who were found in possession of stolen cellphones as well as stolen vehicle keys that belonged to the same vehicle recovered," he said.
"It is alleged that the two suspects broke into the house and while they were still in the house, the principal came not knowing what was happening." "As he entered the house, he was approached by the suspects who allegedly stabbed him to death," Zwane added.
